Traffic Tickets
Incurring traffic tickets can result in excessive points on your license, heavy fines, and increased insurance rates. You can also face surcharges on a yearly basis from the Texas Department of Transportation, Drivers License Division if you pass designated point limits.
The Gonzalez Center for Justice has the knowledge and experience necessary to reduce fines and help you stay on the road. Our traffic violation lawyers have a thorough understanding of the Texas Driver Responsibility Program and what it means for individuals who are frequently pulled over. Whether you have committed a surchargeable violation—a traffic offense that results in annual penalties—are a first time offender, or a habitual violator, we are here for you.
We work with clients who have committed a variety of traffic offenses, including:

Speeding
Texas has simple but strict laws when it comes to speeding. Though points are not assigned for speeding less than 10% over the limit, all other speeding tickets are worth two points and are classified as Class C misdemeanors. Unless the ticket is dismissed, points from your traffic violation will stay on your record for three years. Tickets cost anywhere from $120 for going 5 miles over the speed limit to $185 for going 25 miles over the limit.
At the Gonzalez Center for Justice, our attorneys work with clients to have charges dismissed or classified as a deferred adjudication. We have helped many drivers maintain their good records through the use of deferred dispositions. We also encourage clients to sign up for defensive driving classes to strengthen your chances of having a charge dropped.
License suspension or revocation
The Gonzalez Center for Justice frequently works with clients trying to avoid license suspension or revocation. Licenses in Texas are lost because of:

Your license can also be suspended if you have failed to pay traffic fines from another state or if you are caught driving on a suspended or invalid license.
The Gonzalez Center for Justice represents clients at Administrative License Revocation (ALR) hearings after DWI arrests. We help you apply for an occupational license if you lose your ALR hearing. Occupational licenses allow you to drive if you are:
- Going to work
- Going to school
- Carrying out essential household duties
With the exception of drivers who have lost their licenses because of medical issues or overdue child support payments, most Texas residents are eligible for occupational licenses.
Additionally, the Gonzalez Center for Justice works with clients to have licenses reinstated. We ensure you meet all necessary requirements so you do not waste time or money on DOT paperwork.
